Upminster versus Castle United in the Essex Olympian League Division 2.
Upminsters ground in Hall Lane is quite easy to find. Just off the A127 however, I missed the turning and had to travel through all the road works and heavy traffic of Hornchurch to get there.
Once there, I was rewarded with a glorious view of the Essex Hills as the ground sits on a promontory overlooking this vista.
The ground is a roped off field and incorporates both football and rugby pitches. The rugby club seem to have a large crowd gathered for their match. We are not so lucky.
Castle United who are top of the league totally dominated the first half.
They should have been at least 4 goals ahead by half time but had to be content by an own goal
by Chris Rowlett.
Half time: Upminster 0 Castle United 1
In the second half Upminster came into the game and were rewarded with an equaliser through
James Lakey. Rowlett however, got his second goal to maintain Castle's place at the top of the league.
Final Score: Upminster 1 Castle United 2
